CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE REGARDING HOW WE USE DISCIPLINE BECAUSE IF LIKE THIS CASE IT GETS IN THE WRONG HANDS THEN IM AFRAID THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.
BULLYING IS WRONG AND DOES NOT CREATE GOOD DISCIPLINE! FACT...
GOVERMENT NEEDS TO MAKE CHANGES OR ARE THEY TOO SCARED TO INTERVENE!!!

What an horrific incident to deal with, this lad signed up to fight for his country and all he got was abuse and torture from his fellow officers in a bullying practice that is illegal according to my ex-servicemen grandad
My question to the Hierchy would be ....
HOW DID THEM BASTARDS GET AWAY WITH WITH THE CRIMES THEY COMMITTED???

keep the fight my dear lady, you have our continues support

I BACK THIS CAMPAIGN TO STOP BEASTINGS IN OUR BRITISH ARMY BECAUSE I WAS BEASTED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WAS SERVING AND ON 1 OCCASION I WAS SO EXHAUSTED THAT I HAD TO BE ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL,SO I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AND IT DIGUSTS ME THAT THESE BULLIES ALWAYS GET PROTECTED WHEN YOU REPORT THEM FOR THE BULLYING.
IT WILL NEVER STOP IN THE ARMY BUT FOR THE SAKE OF OTHER SOLDIERS IT SHOULD BE CLOSELY MONITORED BY AN INDEPENDENT ORGANISATION AND THEN MAYBE THIS EXTREME BULLYING WILL BE NON EXTISTENT IN THE FUTURE.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAMPAIGN

MoD need to change some rules if they want the public to warm to them, This case just highlights the fact that the Army have really unhealthy human beings in their ranks, for them to allow an episode to happen in this day and age.
I am really ashamed to say i am BRITISH if this is the way to treat our own colleagues in the Army.
wish you every success in your quest for any changes

I have to comment on this as i have only just found this site although i am fully aware what had happend to Private williams,it was a shock when i first heard about this story but when i have read through everything that had happened i just felt sick to my stomach that these Bullies in uniform were allowed to get away with the abuse they cowardly dished out although they say it is normal in the Army???
I have never heard so much nonsense when the British Army thinks it's ok to BULLY their own soldiers to make them a more discliplined individual....JUSTICE would be a better word to use
best of luck with the campaign, you have my backing

MoD are scumbags in my view, our boys are fighting in afgan and iraq without the proper protection, Bullying, rapes, racial abuse, physical abuse, mental torture.......ALL HAPPENING IN OUR OWN BACK YARD!!!
Hopefully they will eventually be fully investigated by the autorities...But i suspect NOT!

Keep this campaign going, you have got the support

This sort of punishment should never be used in our so called modern army, There is enough people dying in our army during this disgusting WAR never mind in our own secure barracks.
What the f##k is going on in our British Army and our goverment for letting things like this go on in there!
i think it's appalling the way this young boy was treated and i think the ones involved should of been convicted of MURDER! coz thats what it was.

Wishing you good luck in the campaign

I must agree with Trudy's comments about how the bloody hell did they get off with killing this young boy when they knew exactly what was right and wrong, they are officers and should know how to deal with things properly.
The BRITISH ARMY are a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves for allowing Bullying to take place, and to bring out a stiff penalty to the officers who commit this awful crime!

Best of luck with your campaign

what does my head in is, in the real world you get done for murder and sentenced for how many years, yet in the army you kill someone but they get away with it, they killed gavin on perpous now they should be sentenced and thrown out of the Army for good they new dawn bloody well what they were doing. Deb be strong Gavs watching over you someone will be punished in the end, its no wonder people are being put off by joining the Army with all this bullying going on maybe someone should bully the ones in charge give them a taste what it feels like. Your doing really well Debs 3 years on and still fighting you got everyone behind you and full support keep me posted lovely ok love Trudy. xx

What absolutely amazes me is that the Bully in Chief, Mark Davis has since be promoted, just how insensitive is that,
he was the main culprit in this episode, yet gets away scott free, and then gets promoted. Just shows the contempt of the MOD and other senior officers who let this Beasting be carried out.

This is a really sad story which says it all about our British Bullying Army....
They are suppose to be looking after each other not abusing a soldier because he was naughty!
There are much more respectable ways of dealing with someone who has been out of order!
Our British Army including the MoD are a disgrace for allowing this sort of activity to take place at any barracks as these young soldiers are proud to fight for their country and should be respected for doing that.
Discipline..YES
Torture ..NO

Take the MoD to the cleaners if i were you!

My support is 1000% behind you

i hope you find the courage to carry on fighting for your son as he did NOT deserve to die the way he did

I agree that captain Mark Davies should have been found guilty with the other 3 who committed the BEASTING as they all knew what they had done to this poor young lad,It could of been prevented if the neccesary sanction that he deserved was implemented instead of this barbaric gutless Bullying session that took place.
I hope you get some answers from the MoD as to what they intend to do about the BEASTING culture that remains in the British Army because they cannot cover up this case like so many other casese in recent years

you have my support 100%

Captain Davis should have been in the dock with the three bullies(who got away with it), he was the one with the least integrity, getting others to do his dirty work. There are other ways of disciplining people, without killing them.
People who behave like Davis and the other three have a lack of intelligence because they can only bully and not use their brain to solve problems of ill discipline. Best of luck with your battle against the MOD and the Thugs Brigade..

Hello

Although I don't work in the forces, I know how bullying can affect people as I am a victim of years of bullying since childhood due to being different.

From my own experiences I know of some 'macho' people who have been in the army who still use their physical powers, emotions and size to intimidate and control others in society - especially those who continue to exercise authority and treat members of society as subordinates since it is obvious in their character. There is plenty of this going on outside of the army as well so I am sure many people have an understanding of the persecution bullying causes although what happened to Gavin is rather more extreme and it is more likely to go on in the army.

To me it all boils down to an inability since most bullies have insufficient intelligence to be compassionate, professional and to reason intelligently.

If you watch The Weakest Link, then while it is a game and the players abide by the rules, you will see sometimes how cowards gang up on the strongest to make the strongest look the weakest in an attempt to make their challenge easier and can get away with this using the power of the vote rather than facts - this is like people in authority abusing their power to override the truth and make victims look as if they are in the wrong or weak.

It takes a tear to understand what someone has gone through so I can offer you my deepest sympathy and moral support for what happened to Gavin and am wholly against these bullies, cheats, liars and backstabbers who will do whatever they can to suppress the truth and come out spotless - like so many in government who are whitewashed by bureaucracy.

Bullies are the ones who have problems 24-7-365 because of what they are and shouldn't use others as stepping stones or punch bags to progress and pretend to be proud of their achievements when they have taken everything from their victims.

I don't know if sharing ideas and innocence with strengths on our sides in comparison with these evils of those who cause the problem will help, but I have spoken with many other victims who have shared their feelings with me and felt very much better knowing that someone can understand their feelings and that the truth is prevailing over the lies and corruption. For me it is recognising the truth and I don't care what people who don't honour the truth think - the truth is solid and will never change whereas lies and deceit (associated with cowards, bullies, malpractice, etc.) will eventually crumble.

So I wish you the best of luck in your campaign and hope more awareness of the problem will help eliminate beasting in the army together with harsh punishment for those convicted of having done it.

Can I also suggest somewhere you put a paypall donate button.. My brother is an ex serviceman. Confirmed to me after i asked more details regarding the news on your son that this does happen. He has never known of someone getting seriously hurt or dying from the punishment however confirmed it is a really intense punishment. If it gets out of hand which has clearly happened here, it is TOTALLY unacceptable. I disagree with this form of ILLEGAL punishment and so does my brother! I hope justice is served for you and it stops happening all together to stop this happening again. Who's to say someone isnt going to die through this punishment today/tomorrow? My deepest condolences to you and your family!

I'm afraid it's Antony Williams (previous - and insensitive - posting) who appears to be half-witted and ill-informed if he thinks that the following treatment, as described in the BBC court report, constitutes sensible remedial punishment: 'Sgt Blake said he decided to stop the beasting session after Pte Williams mentioned to him that he had been passing blood over the weekend, the court heard. Despite it being "obvious" that Pte Williams was in need of medical treatment, Sgt Blake marched him the long way round to the medical centre while making him perform regular overhead thrusts with a 15lb (7kg) gym bag...'
